Lori Lori is a work-at-home mom of three living in Noblesville, Indiana.

All of that quality time with the kids is wonderful, but it sometimes may leave you feeling like you live in Crazy Town. Don’t worry, though. Here are some tips and tricks to help you stay sane and have fun. If you let it happen, you can even have a summer reminiscent of your own childhood. Take a look at these secrets that will help you and your kids have the best summer EVER!

Take bike rides. Often. Take the longest one you’ve ever been on. Ride your bike to a local ice cream shop or a park if possible.

Hop in the car for a last-minute road trip to check out a fair, nearby attraction or visit Grandma and Grandpa.

If Grandma and Grandpa live out of town, write them letters. Draw pictures and write letters to cousins and friends. Put them in the mailbox! Maybe some mail will come in return.

Binge watch 80s and 90s movies like Jurassic Park, The Goonies and Teen Wolf.

Visit a different park each week of the summer. Then rate them based on how fun they are, how good the playground equipment is, etc.

Have a scavenger hunt. Hide clues and give your kids a surprise once they finish.

Hit up a drive-in movie! Don’t forget the bug spray Lemongrass Farms Insect Repellents work great –  and blankets. Oh, and definitely treat the kids to popcorn and candy!

Work out! Take the kids on walks. Have your daughter put on gymnastics shows. Play pitch-and-catch with your son. Encourage an active lifestyle.

Splurge here and there. This means saying YES to the ice cream truck a couple times.

Throw it back to the old school with some flashlight tag! After you’re done playing, catch some lightning bugs!

Stay up late. The school year is all about bedtimes, so sometimes it’s okay to let everyone stay up past their bedtime. Just cross your fingers they sleep in late too!

Wear swimsuits as much as possible. Visit nearby lakes and pools. Set up the slip ‘n slide. Turn on the sprinkler. BONUS: This means less laundry!

The summer is supposed to be full of bliss and memories. Don’t let it become a stressful season. Instead, do what you can to enjoy every moment with your kids before the school year resumes.
