We’d like to introduce the International Rescue Committee, the charity we’ll be highlighting from April through June this year. This group provides aid around the world, and in the ongoing Syrian refugee crisis. Here are a few facts from the IRC’s website:

International Rescue Committee info:

  • The International Rescue Committee responds to humanitarian crises around the globe, focusing on health, safety, education, and economic well being for people affected by conflict or natural disasters.
  • The IRC works in more than 40 countries, with special programs for women and children. The group also resettles thousands of refugees each year in the U.S.
  • In 1942, the International Relief Association and the Emergency Rescue Committee joined to form the International Rescue Committee. At the end of World War II, the IRC provided relief, established hospitals and children’s centers, and resettled refugees. More recently, the IRC has supported refugees from Syria and Iraq and has helped those affected by the Ebola epidemic in West Africa.
  • More than 90 cents of every dollar donated goes to programs and services that directly help people.
