We’re happy to introduce Convoy of Hope, the charity we’ll be promoting during the months of July through September. This charity is a faith-based, nonprofit that focuses on children’s feeding initiatives, community outreaches, and disaster response. Among other projects, Convoy of Hope currently is helping earthquake victims in Nepal and flood victims in Texas. Here’s some information from their website:

  • The Donaldson family founded Convoy of Hope in 1994. After their father was killed by a drunk driver in 1969, many people helped the family, so the family desired in turn to help others.
  • Convoy of Hope has served more than 70 million people who are impoverished or otherwise suffering.
  • In the U.S., the organization holds community events that offer free groceries, health and dental screenings, haircuts, family portraits, hot meals, job-placement assistance, and more. They also encourage rural church leaders to partner with community leaders to “enhance their presence in the community.”

  • The organization currently feeds more than 145,000 children in 11 nations.
  • The organization also helps impoverished farmers around the world gain skills and tools necessary to grow crops. The harvest helps Convoy of Hope feed children and provides income for farmers.
  • Convoy of Hope reports it is “consistently among the first to respond to disasters throughout the world. We are highly regarded for our scalable distribution model, Disaster Response teams, six international warehouses and Mobile Command Center.”
