Lori Lori is a work-at-home mom of three living in Noblesville, Indiana.

This monster bars recipe is one of those really yummy kid-friendly recipes that adults will like, too. While these are not particularly healthy, Monster Bars are sure to please the entire family. They are one of my personal favorites – the peanut butter, oatmeal, chocolate chips, and M & M’s combine to make the perfect dessert.  They are perfect to serve at a birthday party or to bring to a get together. Confession: I actually warm some up and eat these for breakfast when we have them in the house; don’t judge me!). The recipe is pretty simple, too. Hope you enjoy these chocolatey and tasty monster bars!

Monster Bars Recipe Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 ½ cups peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 4 1/3 cups oatmeal
  • 1 ¾ cups mini or regular-sized chocolate chips
  • 1 ¾ cups mini M & M’s

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugars together. Add eggs and peanut butter and mix. Stir in the vanilla, baking soda and oatmeal. Next, add the chocolate chips and M & M’s. Pour the Monster Bar mixture into a greased 10×15 pan or jelly roll pan. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, making sure not to bake too long.

I’m making it a point this year to try out lots of new recipes to introduce my husband and children to new foods, from taco pizza to chicken lasagna to brussel sprouts. Go ahead and try out this new monster bars recipe. I can pretty much guarantee it will be added to your family’s list of favorite things to eat.

What is your favorite dessert? Feel free to share the recipe, we’d love to read and try it!
